Dr. Charles Armitage and Dan Blake launched Florence in 2017 after successful careers in the NHS and care homes.
They were both frustrated with how healthcare shift workers were being managed by recruitment agencies.
So they set out to build a scalable platform that connects nurses and care workers to shifts. The result is Florence, a marketplace that powers the healthcare workforce across the UK, with the rest of the world in its sights.
Charles, CEO
Charles and Dan had already raised £10m of venture capital through pre-seed, seed and Series A funding rounds.
But to continue to grow their tech and support the global healthcare workforce, they wanted to consider fast funding options that didn’t require them to give away more equity.
Florence used their Uncapped Advance to address the serious staff shortage in social care.
They ramped up user acquisition efforts and hired for their compliance and onboarding teams. They set up two new regional onboarding hubs and hired a temp workforce to onboard lots of workers quickly, who were then able to get working immediately.
The Uncapped funding helped Florence grow revenues by 50% ahead of their Series B fundraise.
